I hate to write about the death anniversary of yet another person, but today marks a year since the passing of one of my favourite actors, Alan Rickman.
He will forever live in my heart as the Sherriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
‘Cut your heart out, with a spooon….’
A classic line and noone could say it with such feeling and humour as he did!
His voice was immediately recognisable in whatever role he played.
Most people will remember him best as Severus Snape, the bad guy turned good in the Harry Potter series. My older children dragged me to the cinema to see all of those films in years gone by !
Even as the stupid cheating husband on Love Actually, he made the audience love him in his own way.
He died of the current curse of mankind…..cancer.
There is a train of thought with some people that the pharmaceutical companies are not trying too hard to cure cancer because they can make so much money from it. I truly hope that is not the case.
If you have ever watched someone coping and fighting or dying from this disease, I am sure you will agree with me that we really need to work out how to kill this scourge.
RIP Alan, your dry wit and inimitable voice will live forever.
